Antiques Road Trip Visits Caves

L to R Smugglers Adventure's Trevor White, Catherine Harvey from Hastings Museum and antiques expert Anita Manning (2000x1500)

Television antiques expert Anita Manning paid a visit to the Smugglers Adventure in Hastings at the weekend to record a new series of the popular ‘Antiques Road Trip’.
The Scottish auctioneer visited the West Hill attraction to film a feature on smuggling for a forthcoming episode of the BBC programme which is due to be broadcast later this year.
In the show two antiques experts travel the country to buy items which are then sold at an auction, the winner is the expert whose antiques make the most profit.
“We were only too pleased to provide an appropriate backdrop for a feature on smuggling,” said manager Trevor White.
“As part of the episode a number of artefacts associated with smuggling were brought out and discussed,” said manager Trevor White.
“Some were from our own collection and others were brought up from Hastings Museum by Catherine Harvey.
“Anita filmed an interview with Catherine about smuggling in the area beside our gaol area and also took shots of the entrance area, our own museum cabinets, a number of our displays and within the tunnels themselves,” he added.
Smugglers Adventure celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. As part of its celebrations the West Hill attraction, which opened in 1989, is planning to put together a special exhibition charting its history with the help of local people.
